Dabugaon: A tragic incident occurred in Motigaon village, located in the Junapani panchayat of Nabarangpur district, where a 45-year-old man named Dhansingh Bhatra drowned in a nearby pond, as reported by local authorities on Tuesday.
According to reports, Dhansingh had visited his farmland and subsequently went for a swim in the pond on Monday evening but did not return home. Concerned family members initiated a search, and on Tuesday morning, villagers discovered his body floating in the water.
Fire Services personnel from Dabugaon were called to the scene to recover the body, which was then transported to the local community health center. Following this, Dhansingh’s wife, Dalimba Bhatra, filed a formal complaint at the Dabugaon police station.
In response to the complaint, Assistant Sub-Inspector Gopalakrishna Halwa conducted an inquest and arranged for a post-mortem examination of the body. After the autopsy was completed, the remains were returned to the family.
An unnatural death case (19/25) has been officially registered at the Dabugaon police station, and an investigation is currently in progress.
